Printing your travel memories: a review of Cheerz.com

Like seemingly everyone these days, I am constantly promising myself to get more photos printed. I think my photography and editing skills are gradually improving, so it would be nice to get some shots framed (…and show just off a little…).

When I moved into my new flat a few weeks ago, I set out to do exactly that. And has luck would have it, Cheerz contacted me at around the same time and asked if I’d like to try out a couple of their products. So here is a review of my experience with Cheerz.

What is Cheerz?

Based in Paris, Cheerz is a photo-printing service that offers a wide selection of products to choose from. Though most products are particularly suited to Instagram prints, you can easily upload and print images from your Facebook or Google accounts as well.

My order

I opted for three products from Cheerz at varying price-points: the Big Prints, the Little Square frame and the Big Square frame.

Big Prints – €12 for a set of 10

I’ve always really like the look of Instagram prints as polaroids so the Big Prints were an easy choice for me. They’re also pretty versatile in terms of how you want to display them – I was originally going to go for a collage with some other photos and momentos I’ve accrued but after a frustrating evening trying to make it work, I soon gave up. Instead, I think I’ll put them in various spots around the flat.

I trialled including one of the new widescreen-style Instagram shots, but I think the classic square shape fits better. You can also include text or a caption, but opted to go without.

Little Square – €25

I really liked the idea of framing one bold Instagram shot to hang in my kitchen, but I spent an absolute age trying to pick the perfect one – and in the end, I wish I’d gone for something with a much brighter saturation – or featuring a bold colour like yellow.

The product itself, however, I can’t fault – you can choose between one large image or a tile of four smaller ones and the frame comes in a variety of colours. I think the same and shape is pretty unique and it would be perfect for either hanging on the wall or using on your bed-side table.

Big Square – €50

As you can opt for 4, 9 or 16 photos, I think the big square is perfect for displaying the best shots from a single trip (I chose the latest company trip to the Baltic Sea for mine). And of course, choosing shots with similar colour-schemes or filters is going to make the combined image look much better.

However, unlike the little square, the frame does not include a picture mount – the four photos are simply printed on a white background. This was a little disappointing.

Why Cheerz?

For me, Cheerz stands out for several reasons. As I mentioned, the breadth of products they offer is really impressive and constantly changing – several new options have been added in the month since I placed my order! You can choose from prints, magnets, posters and frames, but I think the boxes in particularly are great – these are sets of prints in decorative boxes that would make great presents.

However, the thing that would make me choose Cheerz again is the company itself. The site is fresh and youthful, the company Instagram account is full of fun and any purchases come with cute little extras designed simply to put a smile on your face. It might be a small gesture, but you get the feeling that they really love the service they offer and would happily go the extra mile for their customers.
